The key to good training is experienced, motivated trainers who know how to engage with learners, understand their needs and adapt their training to suit each individual client. The excellent feedback that we get from our clients reflects the genuine interest we have in helping and encouraging our clients to enjoy using English and to make good progress. All our trainers are highly qualified and experienced and develop a good rapport with each learner. We are also published authors, translators and linguists who love to share our passion for language.
A key point to all our teaching is to give you the confidence to use the language effectively in all aspects of your work. To achieve this, we focus on listening and speaking skills, we use relevant and up-to-date materials in our lessons and give you on-going feedback and practice to help you improve.

Colin is a linguist in the sense that he is fascinated by ideas and the words people use to express them. When he travels he always tries to learn part of the language of each country he visits. It's one way of understanding the thinking behind different cultures and how those people view the world. So languages for him are not academic subjects, but practical communication tools.
Colin has been providing English training for professionals since 1986. He conducts audits for companies, provides in-company training and action training. He works with managers from all over the world; they teach him about their work and he teaches them the practical language and communication skills they need. His experience has taught him that, given the right type of training, everyone can learn to communicate successfully in a foreign language.

Jane studied languages and translation and has worked in English language teaching for over 15 years. Her interest lies in enabling people to communicate more effectively and to enjoy the experience at the same time! She worked in several schools in Oxford before joining the English @ Oxford team and now divides her time between teaching in Oxford and in Paris.
Teaching English provides a wonderful insight into other cultures and languages and so is very rewarding. Many people feel nervous about learning to communicate in another language and it's our aim to give people the confidence they need to use English in their work and everyday lives.

Paul worked as a teacher and writer and then as a director of another language school before setting up English @ Oxford. He loves language teaching and writing, and online learning gives him a chance to combine both these and playing at being a journalist a bit. He feels very lucky to live in Oxford, which is a beautiful city, and to bring up his three daughters here. His ambition is to be able to use his skills for a charitable cause. There are a lot of people who would love to learn English but can't afford it.
